We are now looking for a senior DevOps Engineer for an assignment in a mission-critical and security-classified IT environment with very high demands on availability, stability, and information security. The assignment is suitable for you who have extensive experience with container platforms, automation, and operation of complex infrastructure, and who thrives in a role where both operational work and technical leadership are included.

About the assignment

In this role, you will work with the further development, operation, and management of central IT platforms based on OpenShift 4, Kubernetes, and Apache Kafka. You will be part of a team with both junior and senior colleagues where you contribute with deep technical expertise, architectural understanding, and mentorship.

The team is responsible for container platforms, the Kafka platform, and parts of monitoring and observability solutions based on, for example, Prometheus and Grafana. The assignment includes both hands-on work and more analytical and planning tasks, such as needs analysis, solution design, documentation, and long-term management.

On-call service (24/7) according to a rolling schedule is included in the assignment.

Main Responsibilities

• Operation, management, and further development of OpenShift 4-based platforms in a cluster environment
• Operation and management of Kafka platforms for mission-critical systems
• Installation, configuration, and upgrading of Kubernetes, OpenShift, and surrounding platform components
• Incident management, troubleshooting, and coordination of actions (2nd and 3rd line)
• Planning and execution of upgrades, improvements, and changes
• Establishment of new environments and clusters as needed
• Work with CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as Code
• Participation in IT security work, including risk and vulnerability analyses
• Documentation of architecture, operation, and management instructions
• Support to internal and external stakeholders
• Knowledge transfer and mentorship within the team

Required Qualifications

To be considered for the assignment, you need to have:

• University degree in IT (at least 120 credits/180 ECTS) or at least 10 years of relevant work experience in IT
• At least 5 years of experience working in a Linux environment, including installation, configuration, and upgrades
• At least 4 years of practical experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift in a cluster environment
• At least 4 years of experience working with Apache Kafka
• At least 5 years of experience in automation, configuration, and scripting, such as Ansible, Bash/Shell, PowerShell, and YAML
• At least 5 years of experience in operating mission-critical IT infrastructure
• At least 1.5 years of experience in incident management and on-call (24/7) in critical IT environments
• At least 2 years of experience working in a security-classified or security-sensitive IT environment
• Very good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

Desirable Experience

• Experience with OpenShift 4 in a security-critical or mission-critical production environment, including upgrades and incident management
• Experience in technical architecture within container and platform solutions
• Experience in mentorship and knowledge transfer in technical teams
